Description
|

VB-4880 is a low cost 2K
Universal Metallizing and Sputtering VM
Basecoat that has been designed for use in finishing
ABS, Acrylic, Polycarbonate, Nylon and
flame treated or primed Polypropylene
plastics.
Among its attributes,
VB-4880 develops very good mar
resistance and hardness, brilliance,
flow and positive cure at relatively low
temperatures.
As supplied, VB-4880
offers a superb balance between
set up times and cure
temperature requirements. This 2K VM Basecoat
is recommended for use with all general
purpose or Automotive grade Vacuum
Metallizing and 2K Topcoats.

Catalyst Requirements
|
|
|
Pre-Catalyze VB-4880 at the
rate of 9 parts paint to 1 part SX-122.
For fastest Cure, use in conjunction with SX-167
Cure Accelerator. Add 1% SX-167 by weight,
to catalyzed VB-4880.

Reduction
|
|
|
|
VB-4880 is supplied at
ready to spray viscosity. However, if your
application permits, reduce VB-4880 as
required with TH-552
2K Reducer.

 |
Cure Cycle
|
|
Flash off 15 minutes,
followed by a 60 minute cure at 160 degrees
F.
|
 |
|
 |
Pot Life
|
|
VB-4880 offers an
approximate pot life of 12 hours when
catalyzed with SX-122. Pot life may be
reduced by as much as 75% when used in
conjunction with SX-167 Cure Accelerator.

Storage
|
 |
Store in tightly sealed
containers, at ambient temperatures.
Protect from moisture, evaporation and foreign
materials. Process ability of this product
can be adversely affected by evaporation
and contamination.

Shelf Life
|
|
12 months, provided
materials are kept in sealed original
containers under specified conditions.
Storage beyond this period can produce
higher viscosities.

VB-4880 is available in 5 and 55 gallon epoxy
