Description
|
|
VB-4873 high build
version of VB-4885, has been
specifically formulated for use in
Vacuum Metallizing Lighting and General
Purpose finishing applications. Among its attributes, this
low cost, High Solids VM Basecoat offers
outstanding adhesion to Noryl, Steel and Zinc Die
Cast, as well as ABS, Styrene and
Thermoplastics.
VB-4873 provides positive cure at relatively low
temperature, superb adhesion between
substrate and Metallizing, exceptional
flow and outstanding brilliance.
In addition, VB-4873 is offered at a
high rate of solids, allowing for a
greater level of reduction flexibility
than may be found in similar coatings. Not recommended for un-primed and
untreated Polypropylene.

Application

Method:

Apply by conventional
and
HVLP Spray, Flow Coat and Dip
applications.

Reduction
|
|
|
For Flow Coat Basecoat
applications, reduce at the rate of 1:2 or
as much as 1:3. For use in Spray
applications, apply as is, or reduce as
required.
For use in Flow Coat Topcoat applications,
reduce 1:3 or as much as 1:4. For use in Topcoat Spray
applications, reduce as required. Acceptable
reducers include: Acetone, Toluene, Heptane or
VM&P Naptha Solvents.

Cure Cycle
|
|
Flash off 30 minutes,
followed by a 60 - 90 minute cure at 160 -
250 degrees
F. for Basecoat applications. Flash off 10
minutes, followed by a 40 minute cure at
140 degrees F., for Topcoat applications.

Storage
|
 |
Store in tightly sealed
containers, at ambient temperatures.
Protect from moisture, evaporation and foreign
materials. Process ability of this product
can be adversely affected by evaporation
and contamination.

Shelf Life
|
|
12 months, provided
materials are kept in sealed original
containers under specified conditions.
Storage beyond this period can produce
higher viscosities.

VB-4873 is available in 5 and 55 gallon epoxy
